Telexy Networks SymNAS v1.0.39 S60v3 S60v5 SymbianOS9.x
You’ve got a Symbian S60 device with WiFi and some space on its memory. What is stopping you from using it as a wireless file server or NAS-drive (Network-Attached Storage) which you can easily plug into any (home, work, friend’s) network to access and manage your phone files directly from a computer using your favorite file browser? You are right – nothing. You just need SymNAS. Install it and securely share your phone’s drives and folders content. Access your files from any computer in your network (wirelessly). SymNAS is essentially a self-contained Symbian implementation of the Network-Attached Storage with the sole purpose of supplying file-based data storage services to other devices on the network. SymNAS provides the functionality of data storage, file systems, and access to files, and the management of these functionalities. You don’t need to have much knowledge about setting up network shares or permissions. Initial auto configuration will do everything for you. Big icons will give you better experience with touch panel devices (like Nokia N97 or MX5800). 3 auto connect options will help you make your phone accessible from your computer right when you need it. SymNAS utilizes industry standard network protocols to provide file server functionality, so you do not need to install anything on your computer. You will need Telexy Network Commander to access your phone files from another Symbian S60 device.

New desktop and menus for S60! Download SnappLife to your phone and mobilize your life…
You will be connected with live notifications from your favorite
news, sports, finance and friends.
And you will have easy access to apps that fit your lifestyle.

SnappLife is a nice application that gives us a new, responsive homescreen for many S60 devices. It features “iPhone like” menu sliding, and customizable widgets on the homescreen. SnappLife is also soon to feature the “Snapp” store, which will give us access to more widgets and applications developer for our phones.
You can easily choose which applications you want on your applications list, and which you don’t, although a small downside is that the widgets that come with the application cannot be removed, and you can’t move them either. So far, so good. I have three menus with my applications on, and just by touching the apps section, I can quickly slide my finger across to see the nice UI built in and see the next grid of applications available.

HelpDiabetes 2.1 J2ME

HelpDiabetes 2.1 J2ME
HelpDiabetes is a help for people with diabetes. It is a carb counting application that runs on a cellular phone. The application has built in the Norwegian Food

Composition Table :
The Norwegian Food Safety Authority, the Directorate of Health and Social Affairs and the Department of Nutrition at the University of Oslo have collaborated to publish the Norwegian

Food Composition Table 2006 (MVT-06) : Code: www.matportalen.no/matvaretabellen
It is also possible to make your own foodtable in Excel and transfer it to the GSM. The application also calculates the amounts of insuline needed for diabetic people.

Food composition tables in other langues are also available on
Code:
http://www.johandegraeve.net]HelpDiabetes - English

Use the application :
The first screen displays the list of all food items, starting with the first in alphabetical order.

Search an item :
You can search an item by entering the starting characters of the item's name, as you would type an SMS.
You can scroll with game keys 'UP' and 'DOWN' . Only characters a..z can be entered, but the application also recognizes variants for example é è ë are all found as 'e'.
To select a food item press the 'SELECT' key or choose option 'Choose'.

Note : some food items may have special characters like 'Macaroni cheese - Tin'. All the letters can be entered in the search box, and also the spaces by clicking the game key 'RIGHT' . However '-' can't be typed by pressing numeric keys. One possibility is to get 'Macaroni cheese - Tin' displayed as first item in the list, and pressing the game key'RIGHT' .

Letters can be removed from the search box by pressing keys 'C', 'BACK' of 'LEFT' (not all phones support the 'C' and 'BACK' key).

Count the amount of carbs and add to a list :
After having selected a food item, you can choose the amount. The units are shown and is always 'gram' for the standard fooddatabase.
Example, suppose the selected food item is 'Bread White', press on numeric key '6' and then '0'. The application will immediately count the amount of carbs (gram) for 60 grams of 'Bread White' and show the result. Also the amount of proteins, fat and kilocalories are calculated. For these elements, only the total amounts are shown, being the total for all the food items that have been selected by you and added to the list with your chosen amounts.
If not all information can be shown on one screen, a scrollbar will appear on the right. Use keys 'UP' and 'DOWN' to scroll.
Remark : Total amounts are shown rounded to the lower Integer value. The calculation keeps into account the correct figures.

It is also possible to enter digits after the decimal point (eg 0,5 piece of apple, assuming an apple would be there with unit 'piece' (which is not the case in the standard table). Choose 'RIGHT', and the cursor will move to the decimal part, choose 'LEFT' and the cursor moves back to the Integer part. Chosing 'LEFT' also removes already entered digits.
Once you've chosen the amount, you can add the food item to a list by choosing option 'Add'.

Show total amount kilocalories, fat, proteins and carbohydrates and calculate amounts of insuline needed.

From the first screen, using option 'Show current total' you can see the total amounts of carbohydrates, fats, porteins and kilocalories for the chosen food items and amounts in the list.
Remark : whenever the source fooddatabase contains no value for proteins, fats or kilocalories for one of the items in the list of chosen items, then the totals are not calculated.
The amount of insuline needed is also shown here , this value is calculated based on personal settings. If your settings are not intialized, the amount of insuline is not calculated.

Show Current list of chosen food items
With this option you can view the list of food items selected so far with the amounts.
It's possible to modify one of the amounts : scroll 'up' or 'down' to scroll to the item you want to change, press 'select', now you can change the amount.
Choose 'Save' to store the new amount or 'back' to cancel.

Empty List
With this option you remove the food items that you selected and have added to the list. You do this typically at start of a new meal.

Reload fooddatabase
You can make your own version of the food composition table on a PC using Excel. Use fooddatabase.xls which you can find here
Code:
http://users.skynet.be/GTbiker/HDEN/English1/fooddatabase-norway-en.xls

And add your own items at the bottom on the first empty row. The application will stop reading when the first row with column A empty is found. You can also modify existing items.
There's no limitation to the characters used in the names of the fooditems. Choose the unit which can be any free text and the standard amount. Example : unit can be "gram", standard amount can be "50". You then enter the amounts of carbohydrates, kilocalories, fats and proteins for 50 gram. Unit could also be "slice" with standard amount "1". Both fields can also be empty.

The amounts of kilocalories, fats and proteins is optional.
When the list is ready, press ctrl+h or click on 'Press here to prepare the worksheet for transfer to the GSM'. The Excel table will be saved and a second file will be generated named foodfileuk.csv and stored in c:\temp (c:\temp must exist on your PC !)
Copy the file c:\temp\foodfileuk.csv to your cellular phone using USB/Bluetooth/Infrared. Then you can use the HelpDiabetes application on the phone to load foodfileuk.csv using 'options' 'Reload'.

Important :
  • You should put excel macro security to low. In Excel chose Tools Options Security 'macro Security' 'Low'
  • if you want to enter digits after the decimal point, use the decimal which you would normally use in Excel. The table attached uses '.' as decimal point (example 2,5 is written in the table as 2.5). If you would normally use ',' , use it here also.

Settings :
  • Set the amounts of required insuline : what je enter is the amount of grams of carbohydrates you can have per unit of insuline. This you can do for breakfast, dinner, supper.
  • Set the times you switch from breakfast to supper, supper to dinner. The application will use these times to use the correct value of amounts of carbohydates per unit insuline.
  • font size
  • speed : this is a setting which allows to take into account the different capacities of cellular phones.
Nokia phones seem to work faster than Sony Ericsson. The standard value is 50. For Nokia phones you can set it to 1000. For Motorola phones even to 2000.

Disclaimer
Please verify the food composition table and experiment with the application before you start using it. Note that this program is only a help. I've written it for myself because I want to be able to do precise calculations without having a PC next to me. This is also how you should use it.
I do not take the responsibility for the consequences of misusing this application

- In order to provide more information on the nature and global dimensions of the current financial crisis, The World Factbook has added five new fields to the Economy category: "Central bank discount rate," "Commercial bank prime lending rate," "Stock of money," "Stock of quasi money," and "Stock of domestic credit."

- In the Geography category, two new fields focus on the increasingly vital resource of water: “Total renewable water resources” and “Freshwater withdrawal.”

PuTTY v1.5.0 Final version S60v3 SymbianOS9.x

PuTTY v1.5.0 Final version S60v3 SymbianOS9.x
This package is the full final release for PuTTY SSH client for Symbian OS version 1.5.0. This is the first non-beta non-snapshot release since 1.3.2 was released in January 2005, and is a significant milestone in the development.

The only change compared to 1.5RC1 is a small palette resource change, but the code itself has not been modified.

Compared to earlier releases, 1.5 brings significant enhancements:

PuTTY for Symbian OS is based on an up-to-date release of the PuTTY core from the Windows version, it has a new friendlier settings system based on profiles, more settings including character set and color palette selection, and fixes and enhancements on the S60 platform.

This release support all S60 third edition phones and the Series 80 v2 Communicator products. Both versions have essentially identical features and will be fully supported through bug fixes. However, given that the user base for S60 is now orders of magnitude larger, new features may only be availble on S60 in the future. Earlier S60 versions are not supported, and while this version contains some changes to enable very basic functionality on S60 5th edition, it is still considered unsupported too.

If you are upgrading from releases earlier than 1.5 beta 2, note that PuTTY can now use full 256-bit keys with the AES encryption algorithm, which can slow it down considerably. New profiles will use a faster128-bit Blowfish algorithm, but existing profiles will need to ben changed from the SSH settings page to take advantage of this.

What's new in Best Profiles for S60 3rd edition 1.02:

Best Profiles user guide
Best Profiles allows automatic profiles switching according to your schedule, calendar or GSM cell location. For each profile Best Profiles allows selection of additional settings such as: backlight, sound on activate, run custom application etc.

Any user of a Nokia smartphone had experienced the following situations: while in the office, meeting or dinner suddenly your phone disturbs you. An incoming call? Not now! It's the only thing you can think about at the moment. Quite often interruption puts you into an embarrassing situation. Another example: you are lying in bed, trying to have some rest after a hard day at work, and again the phone is ringing, because you forgot to switch off "your favourite toy"... Terrible!
It is natural to expect your smartphone to be able to change profile settings automatically, for example a silent mode at night or at work. Unfortunately, the smartphone does not offer such a possibility. But there's no need to worry: Best Profiles integrates this feature into your smartphone!

Features :
Schedule rules - allows defining a schedule to change profiles;
Calendar rules - allows switching profiles basing on calendar events;
Rules priority - allows configuring rules priority;
Today view - summary view showing how exactly Calendar and Schedule rules will work, taking into account priority;
GSM Location rules - allows switching profile automatically if GSM cell serving your phone changes;
GSM Cell log - allows recording GSM Cells IDs in a log for easier management of Location rules;
Charger rules - plug/unplug charger rules;
Advanced profile settings - extended settings to take effect at respective profile activation;
Timed profile activation - allows activating a profile for a certain period of time;
Lock profile - Profile lock against automatic rules effect; the locked profile can be changed only manually or with help of "Cancel activation" function;

How to start :
To add extra functions to standard profiles with Best Profiles, you need to configure rules and additional settings. Of course, you also have to turn Best Profiles on.

Profiles view :
In the main view you can see the list of system profiles. The current active profile is marked.
You can activate one of those profiles with help of menu functions. You can also make a profile active for/after a certain time or at certain hours (timed profile feature).
If you want the automatic rules to be ignored, you can set a Lock using the command "Activate and lock". It is also possible to lock a profile for a certain period of time ("Activate and lock for" command).

Advanced profile settings :
Best Profiles expand the possibilities of system profiles and let you customize additional properties for each profile. This feature offers the following options:
Wallpaper - you can choose any picture to be shown in your Phone application (Standby screen);
Sound on activate - allows setting a sound to play when the profile is activated;
Bluetooth - sets Bluetooth operating mode for this profile (on/off);
Backlight - offers the choice among the following values: "Normal" (usual behaviour), "On if charging" and "Always on";
Run application - you can assign any application installed on your phone to be launched when this profile is activated;
Theme - you can choose any theme to change it when this profile is activated;

Schedule rules :
The profiles will be switched according to the schedule (composed in this view). You can set profile activation time on any day(s) of the week when the profile has to be switched on, deactivation time and the profile to be turned on after deactivation of this entry. You can temporarily turn off any entry by choosing Disable. This entry will be omitted, i.e. Best Profiles will not switch to the profile indicated in this entry.

The following operations can be executed on entries: add new, change, delete entry, enable or disable it.
Every rule has the following parameters:
Activate time - the time when it has to be activated;
Condition - the day(s) of week when it has to be activated;
Profile - one of five system profiles;
Allow deactivate - when choosing "Yes", you can set profile deactivation time and the profile you want to activate after this one;
Deactivate time & Restore profile - here you can define the profile that will be activated after the Deactivate time. You can select one of five system profiles or "Previous". If you select "Previous", the profile used before the Deactivate time will become active again.

Calendar rules :
In this view you can set Calendar rules.
Best Profiles works with your Calendar! If you have a meeting recorded in the Calendar, you don't have to add a line to your Best Profiles schedule. The program will automatically select the predefined profile when it finds a keyword assigned for this profile.

For example, you have a note in your Calendar about a meeting from 9.00 to 10.00 but you think that you may forget to switch your smartphone to the Silent profile. So you want your Best Profiles to switch to it automatically at 9.00 and then switch back to General (or any other) profile at 10.00. This is what you have to do in your Best Profiles: specify a keyword (we recommend enclosing it in special symbols, e.g. #meeting#). When Best Profiles finds this word or word combination you defined in a calendar entry, it'll switch to the profile you've defined for this keyword automatically.

The following operations can be executed on rules: add new, change, delete entry, enable or disable.
Every rule has the following parameters :
Keyword - this is the word you will be using in your Calendar. This word must be unique because Best Profiles scan all the notes in the Calendar looking for this word.
Example: if you define the keyword work for activating Silent mode and then add to Calendar "Start work" at 9:00 and "Finish work" at 18:00, Best Profiles will switch to the Silent mode both at 9:00 and at 18:00.
To make this word unique we recommend placing it between special symbols $...$, %...% etc. E.g. #work# or %work% or !arbeit!.
Then if you add the keyword #work# for activating Silent mode and then add to Calendar "Start #work#" at 9:00 and "Finish work" at 18:00, Best Profiles will switch to the Silent mode only at 9:00.
Profile - one of system profiles associated with the keyword;
Allow deactivate - if "Yes" is selected and you have created a timed meeting in the Calendar (e.g. Start Time at 6:00 and End Time at 12:00), then the profile selected in the "Restore profile" option is activated;
Restore profile - one of five system profiles or "Previous" profile can be selected to activate when this rule effect is over;

Today view :
This view is used for convenience of setting rules and controlling Schedule and Calendar rules effect. Timetable of profile changes is classified by events. For example, if a rule is activated at 6:30 and deactivated at 17:00 then two records will be shown - for activation and for deactivation. The timetable is composed with respect of priorities.

GSM Locations :
This view allows managing GSM Locations rules, which enable automatic profile switching, when the cell serving your phone changes (available operations: create new, edit, add cells, remove cells, etc). Multiple cells can be assigned to each GSM Location rule. The rule can be activated at entering respective cell zone or at leaving this cell zone; it is defined by "Activation condition" property.

GSM Cells log :
This view accumulates records of GSM Cells IDs and allows adding and removing cells in Location rules. To begin accumulating Cells records, the log must be first activated with "Enable log" command. If you don't use the Cell log for setting GSM Locations rules any more (you're done with setting all the rules you need), we recommend deactivating the log with "Disable log" command.

Warning: the log is only working when Best Profiles configuration application is running (when you close Best Profile settings application, the cells you pass are not recorded).

Charger rules :
Here you can configure the profile, to which your smartphone will switch when connecting and disconnecting the charger. For example, if your smartphone is always charging at home, you can set Silent profile to activate for "Charger on" rule and General profile for "Charger off" rule.

Rules priority :
Each rule can be assigned a priority from Highest to Lowest. Timed activation and profile lock rules are an exception and have the topmost priority, which cannot be changed.
Whether a rule or a part of it will be in effect or not is defined by the following rules
You can use the Today view to check how Schedule and Calendar rules will work.
